RAPS Florida Chapter: Unconscious Conversation

When:  May 17, 2016 from 17:30 to 20:00 (ET)

17 May 2016
5:30 – 8:00 pm
Pilgrim Quality Solutions
Tampa, FL

Why do some speakers always win over the audience, while others fail to connect? Many speakers get all the words right, but make little or no impact upon their audience. Come engage with professionals from your local regulatory community and hear an interactive presentation that will help you improve your communications skills. This event is coordinated by the RAPS Florida Chapter and is intended to encourage knowledge sharing and community development within your geographic region.

Whenever we communicate there are actually two conversations – one conscious, the other unconscious. Both conversations are governed by the “emotional” part of our brains – the limbic system, which receives, interprets and routes data from both the conscious and unconscious mind, processing sensations at 10 million bits per second. That’s 80,000 times faster than the conscious thinking part of the brain. The emotional brain makes unconscious judgments about people and situations in nanoseconds. We sense these judgments long before we are cognitively aware of them.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the unconscious conversation and its impact upon every audience
  • Why audiences react emotionally before they react intellectually
  • Why thinking is a bad way to communicate
  • Controlling the unconscious conversation by aligning one’s body, voice and words
  • Two simple techniques that can put you in control of the unconscious conversation

Light refreshments will be provided and RAC holders may claim two RAC recertification credits.
