RAPS Chicago Chapter: Don’t Be Haunted By Your Words

When:  Nov 10, 2016 from 17:30 to 20:30 (ET)

10 November 2016
5:30–8:30 pm CST
AbbVie Inc.

Today employees are under intense pressure. Frustrated by unexpected network breakdowns, they may write blunt comments on post-it notes, send personal emails on the company computer or write scathing comments to their colleagues. If the company is sued, these documents might be used to embarrass the employee and the company. During this hands-on session, you’ll learn:

  • Who can be held criminally liable under the law.
  • How the scope of a person's authority determines his/her accountability.
  • How to write informative documents that don't make the writer a target.
  • Who should not be writing opinions on regulatory issues.
  • How sticky notes on files can cause trouble for organizations during a lawsuit.
  • How to write documents that will answer the readers’ questions before they ask them.
  • How to organize most documents in less than 60 seconds.
  • How to determine the readability of written documents and reduce errors by 99%.

During this interactive session, you will have the opportunity to write and edit a document using the principles taught in the class, so bring your laptop to participate. A light meal will be provided and participants may claim two RAC recertification credits.
