Are there any professional associations representing the dietary supplement industry's compliance and quality needs and concerns (other than RAPS)?

I've looked a little, not a lot, and haven't found one.  I've been thinking that dietary supplements haven't been regulated enough to inspire one, at least not yet.

If you should learn of one, I'd be interested to hear.

I haven't come across a dietary supplement trade association singularly dedicated to quality and compliance or analogous to RAPS.  I'd start with Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) as one of the better ones demonstrating rigor in a variety of areas relevant to the industry including quality and GMPs, advertising standards, scientific evidence, etc.  You tend to see larger, more established organizations as industry members.

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), founded in 1973, is one of the dietary supplement industry's leading trade associations representing ingredient suppliers and manufacturers. CRN members adhere to a strong code of ethics, comply with dosage limits and manufacture dietary supplements to high quality standards under good manufacturing practices.

There are trade associations that represent the dietary supplement industry.  Both CRN (Center for Responsible Nutrition) as well as CHPA (Consumer Heathcare Products Association) cover dietary supplements.

    Hi Rich,

Have you checked out the National Products Association?  I have referred to them on occasion for dietary supplements.

    Richard,

In preparation for my speaking engagements, I use the following.

IADSA provides global info, science and regulation. There is a good article for stability testing.

Supplement Quality provides a list of trade organizations.  One of them is CHPA, which is 135 years old.

    Thank you.

    s/ David
