  • 1.  Service for published study reprints

    Posted 13-Jun-2016 09:26

    Hello,

Which provider do you use for reprints of published study reports?

We have a provider who does extensive lit searches in 4 databases, but they only provide abstracts, not full articles. Going to individual publishers for each report will not be time-effective.

    Would appreciate any recommendations.

    Thanks,

    Great question.

I'm usually looking for articles published in the medical literature, so I start with PubMed.  It shows only abstracts, but provides links to sources for the full articles.  I'm not aware of a single source, but some publishers (e.g., Elsevier) publish many different journals, and serve as sort of a one-stop shop for the journals that they publish.

I only recently discovered ScienceDirect, which looks promising.

    Thanks, Julie,

It looks like ScienceDirect is only for Elsevier publications.

I'm also investigating Infotrieve, which is part of the Copyright Clearance Center.

We have had very good luck over the past few years with Infotrieve / CCC.

Well, darn.  I was hoping I'd found a new resource, instead of a repackaging.

Thanks for the tip on InfoRetrieve.

As long as I can remember, people within the medical and scientific communities have lamented the difficulties associated with accessing reprints.  Progress has been made, but at a snail's pace.
