  • 1.  GUDID QR coding - String requirements

    Posted 07-Sep-2016 16:14

    Dear Forum members,

As I rapidly approach my deadline, I have a question regarding the numerical string that gets programmed into my QR code.

Using GS1 as my GUDID standard, my GTIN is my DI and sterilization expiration date and lot number are my PI – can I include the (01), (17) and (10) in the actual QR code, just as it appears on my label as readable text?  Or should the prefix (01), (17) and (10) be excluded?

The GS1 standard states that a “.” Can be used for the lot number (10), however, can I use my readable text ‘as is’ in the QR code when it is read?  See my example for one of my labels that will be sent to my labeler.  I appreciate any feedback you have in the matter.  Please call me at 732-403-4681 if you have any questions.

    Hollie,

The parentheticals 01, 17, 10 should be included in your QR code.

As a cautionary note, you should have separate GTINs for your single unit, multiple units or case/package, if any.

    Thank you.
