hello, I am looking for some recommendations for on-line or web-based leadership training videos or articles. I need to provide some resources for 'soft skills' training in things like emotional intelligence, communication skills, handling difficult conversations, dealing with difficult people, etc. You get the idea! Of course, when I googled it, thousands of companies and tens of thousands of results came up, but I need to weed through and find the valuable ones. So, I would appreciate your r recommendations of companies, organizations, or modules you have found useful. I would prefer free or low cost options, but will gladly pay for content that is worth the investment.
    Thank you!

I am not sure about you, but have you looked at LinkedIn Learning? It's a fantastic resource for soft skills training.

    Hi Anon.

I would second Karen's suggestion of LinkedIn Learning.  We actually put together an entire year of training for our company (usually 2 required and 1 optional course per month) that people were expected to complete as part of their developmental goals for the review cycle.  Lots of different content (some really good courses in the areas you are specifically calling-out!) and some of it, while often deemed "common sense", takes a different spin on the issues that get involved.  Many courses also provide some helpful tools like checklists or written exercises.  I wouldn't say to use these as "proof of completion" type things but I found them truly helpful in understanding the concepts being presented and how it would potentially work in "real world" situations.  I also believe that the pricing wasn't too bad (we obtained a corporate license through our HR team that allowed us to essentially also create our own "catalog" of courses for each group within the business - another nice feature!).

edX.org offers many soft-skills type courses online, and most can be audited for free. I think it's a good resource.

    Hello,

You are right...there's a lot out there.

I would also recommend LinkedIn Learning - a lot of great online, video based content there. I'd also check out ATD (Association for Talent Development) who has a lot of free webinars on a variety of topics. I just listened to a really good one done by Daniel Goleman (one of the pioneers of EI in the workplace) on EI's role in Effective Coaching.

Three other resources I use, especially when I'm mentoring others in leadership skills and looking for print or articles are: Center for Creative Leadership, MindTools, and ASQ's Human Development and Leadership Division.

I recommend Fred Pryor online.  The courses are unlimited and you can download a certificate each time you complete one.  I've also used it as training for my team.  The individual membership can be pricey, but if you're a new member that could probably offer you a discounted rate.
