The Trump administration will exempt certain categories of medical devices and medical equipment from hefty tariffs it slapped on $34 billion of Chinese imports to the U.S., offering relief to some U.S, firms.
The narrow list of exemptions will provide relief from 25% tariffs which went into effect on July 6. The waivers apply to electric vessel sealing and dividing devices, mechanically or electrically-controlled suction coagulators, microwave ablation antennas, alignment and positioning apparatus for dental x-rays, ultrasound devices used in veterinary medicine, smoke evacuation pencils, electro-surgical instrument parts and accessories, and overhead tube suspension equipment used to position x-ray generating equipment.
However, with Trump's announcement on August 1st, the situation may change.
