    Responding to international outcry after a Chinese scientist claimed to have helped create gene-edited babies, China has drafted a series of new regulations on gene editing.

    The proposed new National Health Commission rules on clinical research address gene editing, gene transfer, and gene regulation. All would be designated as high-risk and would be subject to oversight by China's national cabinet, the State Council. The rules have not yet been adopted.
