Hello Anon,
You want to refer to the latest Guide for the Machinery Directive here
https://ec.europa.eu/docsroom/documents/38022/attachments/1/translations/en/renditions/native. It is long - 450+ pages, but if you go down into the document in Section 250 of marking, it explains what is designation of machinery. It explains this is the usual or common category name of the product with references back to Annex II - which does not help. There is really no list or formal designation list out there, so we generally used descriptions like "medical device" or "movable hospital bed". The designation of series of type as explained in the guide is the company internal information such as model number or par number. We always just referred to the model number of the finished device which was also stated and the same on the Declaration of Conformity.

Hello, Everyone,
I have a question about the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC,
in the 1.7.3 of Annex I of the Machinery Directive. The following information should be displayed on the machine plate:
- The business name
- Full address of the manufacturer
- Authorized representative
- The designation of the machinery
- The CE Marking
- The designation of series or type
- The serial number
- The year of construction
- Additionally: information for the safe use of the machine must be displayed on the machinery
What information should be provided for- The designation of the machinery and The designation of series or type
where I can find this information ? any examples?
Thanks a lot!
