19-25 April is National Volunteer Week. RAPS is recognizing some its wonderful volunteers for all of their dedication and hard work. Get to know them each day this week with a Q&A below and check out the RAPS Volunteer Program to learn more and get involved.

    Robert Wolfarth

    • What has been your favorite RAPS volunteer experience? Being asked to inaugurate and chair a new RAPS chapter has been such an honor. With that comes the chance and responsibility to speak on the podium, write and publish, guide the chapter’s formation and first activities, and so many other duties. I was happy to have this opportunity, and to work with such a great team.
    • How has being a RAPS volunteer benefitted you? My network breadth grew exponentially, and my understanding of the needs and priorities of other companies in other life sciences sectors also grew. This perspective has given me a better understanding of our industry.
    • What would we find on your desk right now? A laptop, a mango lassi, a pile of papers, and a bemused cat. (I’m working from home.)
    • Do you prefer coffee or tea? Tea. No comparison. First flush darjeeling.
    • What has been your favorite quarantine hobby? I haven’t taken up any new hobbies, but I have used this opportunity to read more, reconnect with friends, and push forward some Masonic projects that I’m working on. I’ve also been cooking (eating) too much!
    • What do you love about the regulatory profession? Unlike almost any other department, RA requires me to interact closely with all other departments in my company to understand their work so that I may describe and defend them to governing agencies. Further, it requires of me knowledge of medicine, law, diplomacy, writing and communication, and many other skills. It’s at once very demanding and very rewarding.
