  • 1.  One insight or skill that would have helped early in your career

As we get older, we get wiser. We try not to repeat our mistakes. One lesson I learned early on is to push back on unrealistic deadlines and, when completing an assignment, take the time to provide my best written work.

The reason for this is when time has passed, and people read your written work, no one remembers that you were given an unrealistic deadline to do the project. My favorite saying is, “Documents are like diamonds, they are very precious, and they last forever.”

It would be great to know: what is one insight or skill that would have helped you if you had learned it earlier in your career?

    I agree Nancy!

One thing that I have learnt as well is you have to choose your battles.  You do not have to always give in to the customers, sites, or Agency's requests, choose what is important and argue your point.

Rhonda - Thanks for sharing that insight! I have found that regulatory professionals try to be very accommodating. If we push back when it is necessary, we will be more successful. It would be great if you or others could give instances when they have pushed back successfully. When I was working for a company and had too many deliverables within a month, I listed all of the tasks and asked my supervisors to prioritize the projects. That worked well. He eliminated some projects and gave me more time to complete others.
