I would like to use passive RFID tags for tracking our inventory. Our inventory is either sterilized via EO or Gamma irradiation.

The thought was that we would insert a passive RFID tag into the box post sterilization just prior to wrapping the box in cellophane.

The RFID is simply there for us to conduct inventory counts in hospitals and various warehouses during the products life cycle.

I would be interested in speaking to people that have adopted such a system and can talk about the pros and cons based on their actual experience.

One key question I always like to ask is if you do use passive RFID now, and you could do it all over again, would you choose the same system or would you move to a different platform.

We use NetSuite as our ERP system, if this is needed to help answer the inquiry.

Caution on opening the box after sterilization. Could that allow foreign matter on the sterile barriers? Could placing the tag and shipping with it allow damage to any components?

Also consider UDI rules, if this is an additional DI/PI, usable by the customer as well as the manufacturer.
