This session is focused on enhancing participants' understanding of Canada’s regulatory and pharmacovigilance framework for cannabis, particularly in relation to adverse reaction reporting. Attendees will explore the current regulatory landscape under the Cannabis Act and its Regulations, gaining insights into Health Canada's approach to monitoring cannabis-related adverse reactions.

Learning Objectives
- Understand the regulatory landscape for reporting adverse reactions to cannabis in Canada: Attendees will gain an understanding of the pharmacovigilance program for cannabis regulated under the Cannabis Act and its Regulations.
- Understand the current state of the cannabis pharmacovigilance framework in Canada: Attendees will explore current trends and challenges in cannabis pharmacovigilance in Canada, and the importance of reporting cannabis-drug interactions.
- Gain proficiency in reporting cannabis adverse reactions, including cannabis-drug interactions to Health Canada: Attendees will gain knowledge on the key differences between reporting an adverse reaction where the suspect product is a drug regulated under the Food and Drugs Act and its Regulations vs. a cannabis product regulated under the Cannabis Act and its Regulations.

Safia Hassan
Scientific Evaluator within the Pharmacovigilance Division of Health Canada’s Office of Cannabis Science and Surveillance
Safia Hassan is a Scientific Evaluator within the Pharmacovigilance Division of Health Canada’s Office of Cannabis Science and Surveillance. Her division leads Health Canada’s vigilance framework for cannabis and cannabis products. Before joining this division, Safia has held various positions within the public and private sector including Health Canada's Regulatory Operations and Enforcement Branch and Health Product and Food Branch as well as the Canadian Food Inspection Agency's Food Safety Science Directorate and Abbott Point of Care, a division of Abbott Laboratories. Safia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Ottawa and is completing a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from the University of Montreal.
Cancellations and Refunds
RAPS reserves the right to cancel this program at its sole discretion. RAPS will not be responsible for travel or other costs incurred due to cancellation. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to support@raps.org. Cancellations will receive a full refund minus a 20% administrative fee. RAPS is unable to accept cancellations by phone.
Substitutions
Paid registration substitutions may be accepted with written approval from RAPS for requests received before the start of the event. To transfer a registration, email support@raps.org with the event title, name of the original registrant and the contact information for the new attendee.
