Australia and New Zealand have revived their plans to create a joint
agency to regulate medical products. The new agency would be known as
the Australia New Zealand Therapeutic Products Agency (ANZTPA). “New
Zealand’s regulatory arrangements for medicines and medical devices need
to be updated, and this is a cost-effective and comprehensive way of
achieving this,” said New Zealand Prime Minister John Key. The new
agency is expected to take five years to create. (Editor’s note: readers
