Australia and New Zealand have revived their plans to create a joint agency to regulate medical products. The new agency would be known as the Australia New Zealand Therapeutic Products Agency (ANZTPA). “New Zealand’s regulatory arrangements for medicines and medical devices need to be updated, and this is a cost-effective and comprehensive way of achieving this,” said New Zealand Prime Minister John Key. The new agency is expected to take five years to create.
