Hello everyone studying for the RAC exam this fall! I wanted to share something that has really helped me study and will help long after the exam.
The last time I took the RAC I studied for about 6 months. This time, I had about 8 WEEKS once I committed. I am doing Devices and not a regional RAC. I found a very helpful book called "Ultralearning" - a way of metalearning by Scott Young; I highly recommend it. I used his technique of creating the map for what I wanted to learn, why I needed to learn it, and by when. I outlined for each RAC region by subject, estimated the time for each subject and created my 8-week schedule. For me, I learn better by doing and not just reading. I have 13 years in RA, but need to re-familiarize myself with many areas before the exam. I am creating a library of submission and other templates using the Fundamentals book and US, EU and Canada websites. I am also creating a library list by topic for the reference materials with hyperlinks. I envision how I would use them in my daily work as I create them, which is important. The RAC is mostly practical application questions so this helps with the exam, and real life. Studying this way sure beats my old flash card way of studying years ago!! I hope it helps you, too.
