How regulatory changes are driving sustainability initiatives through the Healthcare system? From UK's National Health System (NHS) initiatives, to Europe's Green Deal and California's new laws, why this is important and what the future holds?
The complex nature of medical devices, often composed of novel materials and electronics, poses significant hurdles in achieving eco-friendly manufacturing processes and end-of-life disposal. This presentation aims to shine a light on a very fast-moving area, building an understanding of where the industry is at in terms of sustainability goals and how health system stakeholders are working with legislators, procurement organizations, etc. to achieve this ambitious goal. Since the NHS was the world first health system to commit to Net Zero, Michelle Sullivan has worked together with many heath system stakeholders to build the sustainability focus through the MedTech Industry. In addition to her role at Boston Scientific, she chairs the sustainability group at the Association of British HealthTech Industries, is a HealthTech island board member and a member of the sustainable transition committee at MedTech Europe. Michelle gave a landmark presentation at the RAPS Euro Convergence in 2022 and we are very excited to have her present for the North American RAPS audience.
