RAPS is seeking qualified and committed leaders to serve on its Global Board of Directors, the governing body responsible for providing strategic oversight and fiduciary responsibility for the organization. Board service offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of the regulatory profession and to support RAPS’ mission on a global scale.
The Board of Directors works collaboratively to guide the organization’s strategic direction, ensure strong governance practices, and represent the interests of RAPS members worldwide.
For this nomination cycle, RAPS is seeking candidates for the following elected leadership positions, all beginning service in January 2027:
- Two Director positions, each serving a three‑year term
- One President (vice-chair) position, serving a two‑year term
For additional information regarding the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of the President and Directors, please refer to the Board of Directors Position Descriptions and Duties. Eligibility is limited to voting members in good standing.
Nomination Timeline
The general process and timeline for the 2026 nominations are:
- Call for applications open to all voting members: 1 April – 30 April 2026
- Nominating Committee review and selection: May/June 2026
- Nominating Committee announces slate: June 2026*
Criteria Used for the Selection of Board of Directors Candidates
Candidates should invest sufficient time and effort to submit a thorough and high-quality application. Directors and President must commit to attending up to four meetings annually, of which at least three are likely to be in person. In reviewing candidates, the RAPS Nominating Committee will consider the following:
General qualifications
- Must be a current voting member of RAPS and actively engaged in the regulatory profession at the time of nomination
- Previous contributions and commitments to the regulatory profession, with a minimum of 15 years of regulatory and quality related experience
- Leadership and experience in the regulatory profession, including multinational work
- Involvement with and service to RAPS, and ability to represent RAPS as an ambassador to the regulatory community
- Understanding of RAPS strategic priorities
- Strategic thinking and planning experience, with the ability to envision opportunities for the profession globally
- Positive leadership attributes and ability to work collaboratively and engage in constructive debate and discussion
Additional qualifications for the President role
- Ability to read and interpret financial statements and a general understanding of finance and accounting concepts
- Understanding of budgeting and strategic planning processes
How to Apply
The nomination process consists of two required steps and is designed to support thoughtful, complete submissions.
Step 1: Complete the Nomination Preparation Form (Draft Document)
Applicants must first complete the RAPS Board of Directors Nomination Preparation Form, a Word document intended to support the development of substantive narrative responses. Because responses may require preparation over time, applicants are encouraged to complete this document in advance.
This application allows candidates to:
- Develop and refine narrative responses
- Prepare required materials prior to formal submission
Narrative responses from this document will be used in the official submission process below.
Step 2: Submit the Online Nomination Submission Form
Once all materials are final, applicants must complete the RAPS Board of Directors Nomination Submission Form.
Please note the following requirements:
- The online form must be completed and submitted in one session; progress cannot be saved.
- Applicants will be asked to copy and paste their finalized narrative responses from the Nomination Preparation Form into the corresponding fields in the online form.
- A file upload is required at the end of the form and must include:
- Resume or CV
- Letters of recommendation
- Once submitted, materials cannot be added or revised.

*Additional eligible candidates may be submitted by active voting members by submitting nomination materials plus written support of one hundred (100) active and life RAPS members in good standing within thirty (30) days after the nominations committee presents its slate of candidates to membership. If additional qualified nominees are submitted, then electronic voting will be conducted.
