    What is the best way to generate Batch
    is it year- Julian date and batch number like YY-XXX-0A 
    or  year month date and batch number (0A) YYMMDD-0A  
    Please advise

    Dear Yasser,

    Not sure there is a best way to generate a batch; however, the generation of a batch number/identifier should be defined in your company's SOP and supported by Quality.  As long as a distinctive combination of numbers or letters are used to specifically identify a "batch" and it is used on the MBR, labels, packaging, etc. you should be OK.  Many companies use their warehousing system to assign batch numbering.  I would caution on use of date (DD) so it is not confused with DOM and  hyphens take up characters.

    Dear Yasser,

    I agree with Dar as our ERP system automatically generates our batch numbers as the JO number.  We then use that on all the documentation that Dar described.  Our work instructions call out how are batch numbers are generated.
